Past Events
Animal Awareness organizes peaceful demonstrations and leafleting
in the Baltimore area for the purpose of public education. Until
the animals have legislation to liberate them, public education
is their only hope. If the public did not patronize establishments
who practice animal cruelty, then it would no longer exist.

June
2002 Calendar
In June, circuses were held at several locations in the Baltimore
area. Animal Awareness was present at most of these events so that
we could help bring a voice to the animals who cannot speak out for
themselves. You can still help to bring awareness of their suffering
by writing to the venues of these circuses and let them know that
next year you would prefer that they hire carnivals or circuses that
do not involve animals.
Here is a list of the June 2002 Circuses:
(1) UniverSoul
Circus
was at Mondawmin Mall from June 14-June 23, 2002 featuring
elephants who danced to soul music and stood on their heads as well
as "magical" white tigers. This circus was in town for 10
days and had multiple shows per day.

Awareness to the sponsors of the UniverSoul Circus.
(2) Boumi
Shrine Circus, Timonium
Fairgrounds May 30 to June 2, 2002.
Please contact the
Boumi Shrine Circus to inform them that you would like to see
them use only human acts in their circus. Call 410-391-6400 or write
to Boumi Shrine 5050 King Avenue, Baltimore, Maryland 21237

Awareness to the Boumi Shrine Circus.
(3) Kelly Miller
Circus was
in Linthicum on Monday June 3, 2002, featuring elephants, camels,
and horse acts. Unfortunately, they were even offering elephant rides
and pony rides to the public. It was held on the grounds of St. Philip
Neri Roman Catholic Church in Linthicum, 6405 S. Orchard Road. Please
write and let them know entertainment does not need to involve cruelty.

(4) Kelly Miller
Circus was
in Severna Park on Tuesday June 4, 2002 at the Earleigh Heights
Volunteer Fire Dept, 161 Ritchie Hwy, Severna Park MD 21146.
Successful Outreach
Letters were written to the organizations who supported these circuses
and some support for the circus was dropped once they were aware of
the inhumane treatment.
