Humane Investing: Stocks

Animal advocates go to great lengths to ensure that they do not contribute to animal suffering. From a vegan diet to not wearing leather to not buying products tested on animals. But do you know what your investment money is funding? If not, you should.
Humane Stocks

Below is a list of stocks that have beneficial aspects to either the environment or to animal issues. This list will grow, so be sure to check back.

Before making any investment, be sure to contact the company to ask questions that may concern you. It is also a good idea to ask to see a prospectus and other written materials with stock performance. No one at Animal Awareness is a qualified financial advisor. As with all stocks, bonds, and mutual funds... there are no guarantees. This list is intended to be a helpful tool only.

For additional companies to look into, take a look at PETA's extensive list of companies that do not test on animals. Many are publically traded and could be good investment opportunities.

    Body Shop International [BDSPF]

Statement from Rita El-Ali (Investor.Relations@the-body-shop.com) at The Body Shop:
"Thank you for your interest in The Body Shop International PLC. We believe that testing on animals is unethical and unneccesary and that it should be banned. In fact, our stance on this issue led to us becoming the first international cosmetics retailer to be endorsed by leading animal protection groups under their Humane Cosmetic Standard.

For more detailed information on our views on this as well as our campaigning history, please visit our website http://www.thebodyshop.com/web/tbsgl/values.jsp.

Our shares are traded on the London Stock Exchange, and US stockbrokers will be able to advise potential US investors of how to acquire these.

I hope you have found this useful, and please do not hesitate to contact me if you have further queries."
